About Section 202 Housing
Section 202 is HUD's primary subsidized housing program for low-income seniors age 62 and older. Properties offer affordable apartment-style housing with services coordinators who help residents access medical care, transportation, and meals. Residents typically pay 30 percent of adjusted household income toward rent.
How to apply: Contact the property management directly to ask about the waiting list. Most Section 202 properties have multi-year waiting lists.
HUD REAC scores rate property physical condition. 90 or above = passing condition, 60 to 89 = follow-up required, below 60 = troubled.
